Movie goers this weekend proved they are not sick of The Dark Knight Rises. But they may be sick of remakes.
The final installment of Christopher Nolan's trilogy earned $36.4 million, enough to place it atop the box office for the third consecutive week. It has now garnered $354.6 million domestically in 17 days.

In other movie news, Sony's remake of Total Recall - with Colin Farrell in the role Arnold Schwarzenegger made famous - did not make the major dent many expected.
It finished in second place with $26
million, which (adjusted for inflation) is nearly $20 million less than
the original on its opening weekend.
Take a look at the top five below:
- The Dark Knight Rises: $36.4 million
- Total Recall: $26.0 million
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days: $14.7 million
- Ice Age: Continental Drift: $8.4 million
- The Watch: $6.4 million
