The Dark Knight Rises Wins Again, Total Recall Bombs at Box Office

Movie goers this weekend proved they are not sick of The Dark Knight Rises. But they may be sick of remakes.
The final installment of Christopher Nolan's trilogy earned $36.4 million, enough to place it atop the box office for the third consecutive week. It has now garnered $354.6 million domestically in 17 days.
Go Batman!
In other movie news, Sony's remake of Total Recall - with Colin Farrell in the role Arnold Schwarzenegger made famous - did not make the major dent many expected.
It finished in second place with $26 million, which (adjusted for inflation) is nearly $20 million less than the original on its opening weekend.
Take a look at the top five below:
  1. The Dark Knight Rises: $36.4 million
  2. Total Recall: $26.0 million
  3. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days: $14.7 million
  4. Ice Age: Continental Drift: $8.4 million
  5. The Watch: $6.4 million
